The house is situated on a 2 acre plot, fronting a white coral sand beach, surrounded by coconut palms, frangipani trees and bougainvillea. It is about 2 miles south of Mombasa Island, on the Kenya coast, about 45 minutes drive from the airport. The beach is peaceful – there are no big hotels nearby and therefore no beach boys. There is a lovely swimming pool with a big shallow end for children to play in safely.
The house has 4 large air conditioned bedrooms, each with its en-suite bathroom and solar heated water. Each has a balcony, either facing east toward the sea and the sunrise or inland and west to the sunset. The main balcony facing the sea has a big table with chairs and is a place for the family to eat breakfast or relax with a drink in the evening. The house sleeps 9. The 2 bedrooms facing the sea each have a big double bed and the other bedrooms are a twin and a triple, with single beds. There is also a bed / settee with mosquito net in the study that can be used for an additional person to sleep on. There is a toilet beside it, but no en suite bathroom.
The dining room has a large dining table and the lounge area is comfortably furnished with a settee and easy chairs. There is a TV and DVD player and a variety of board games. The kitchen is large and fully equipped.

Local Amenities and Staff
The area is peaceful and not built up with hotels or restaurants. However, there are lots of good beachside and other restaurants and bars about 30 minutes drive down the coast at Diani.
There are good supermarkets just across the ferry on Mombasa Island and at Diani. The staff will buy local fresh fish, fresh fruit and vegetables for you and will also do the supermarket shopping for you, if you prefer.
There is an Estate Manager, Sue. She lives nearby and will arrange anything for you : – from Safaris to Tsavo Game Park or dolphin trips at Wasini Island, to taxis, car hire, reef walks and shopping. She will check regularly with you during the day to see if there is anything you need and will do her best to see that your every need is met. Edwin is the caretaker, who also helps with the garden. He lives on site and will answer any questions or make arrangements for taxis etc. There is also a gardener, Sylvester, who you will see each day working in the garden.
A maid, Norah, comes in each day between 7.30 and 5.00 pm. She cleans the house, does the washing up, washes guest’s clothes and towels etc.
There are also two night watchman, Abdulla and Hamisi, who generally make sure that all is safe. We are also connected to G4S for additional security and linked to the local Administartion police who are living nearby.
Pool, Garden and Beach
The house is situated on a 2 acre plot, with the white coral sand beach in front. The garden has coconut palms, from which you can have fresh “madafu” (Kiswahili for green coconut) to drink, mango trees, frangipani trees and masses of bougainvillea.
The pool has a large shallow end for children to play and for adults to relax, together with a deep end that is deep enough to dive in. The water is smooth and does not smell of chlorine. There is a wide sandstone surround to the pool, with sun loungers you can sunbathe and relax on and a table with an umbrella shade and chairs to sit at or have meals.
The beach is white coral sand, and you can swim in its warm waters when the tide is in. There is a wide fringing reef about 1km offshore, which provides a barrier that makes swimming completely safe from strong currents and sharks.
